Meet Your Coach & Consultant (Coachsultant), Jean!

Thank you for visiting my website! My company name “Avail” is simple. When used as a verb, it means to be of use or value. When it’s used as noun, it means advantage; use; efficacy; effective use in the achievement of a goal or objective. Whether used as a verb or a noun — this is how we describe what we do at Avail, we work with individuals and organizations to move forward.

Our logo is a visual of a process. Starting at the bottom—there is always a beginning to learning, development and growth, as we move up or forward, things get messy. Getting from point A to point B is not a straight line. If it were that easy, then there would be no learning or growing taking place. When we come out at the end, it leads to continuous learning and development that goes on into infinity.

Jean's exceptional understanding of business and how people and their talents are instrumental the success of the business.

Jean has worked with small start up companies to fortune 50 organizations, both in the public and private sector. She has held strategic Human Resources and Organization Development roles for such organizations as Best Buy, The Sheraton Hotel Corporation, Knott’s Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America, Lifetouch National School Studios, Allianz Life Insurance Company and Medica to name a few. In addition, Jean formerly served as Board Chair for The Firefly Sisterhood and past Human Resources Committee Chair for the Brain Injury Alliance of Minnesota.

Jean received her M.A. in Human Resources and Change Leadership with a concentration in Organization Development from the University of St. Thomas, and her B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Augsburg College, both located in Minneapolis. Jean has also received her coaches training from Coach U (an affiliate of International Coach Federation) Jean is certified to administer and interpret the Hogan Assessments and the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator®, is a certified Prosci® Change Management Practitioner and a World Institute of Action Learning WIAL® coach.

Jean is continuously increasing her knowledge in the fields of Leadership Coaching, Human Resources and Organizations by participating in professional organizations such as Human Resources Executive Forum, Society for Human Resource Managers, American Society of Training and Development, Minnesota Change Management Network, Minnesota Organization Development Network, Organization Development Network, International Coach Federation and Minnesota Coaches Association..
